PHOTO GALLERY - HOW TO GET STARTED?

Now you can register for free to our Photo Gallery and create your very own albums and share them with others, be it for commercial reasons, your private friends, your family or the all over public.

Photos and Videos can be uploaded, you can send your friends the link and they can simply view your work and even download it.

You can protect your albums with a password of your own choice or watermarks can be added.

Take the following simple guide to get started. It is not a complete documentation of all possible features the Gallery offers.

HOW TO ENTER THE PHOTO GALLERY?

Click on any Enter GALLERY link on this web site. Links are normaly blue and if not, at least underlined. On each page under the top logo you have minimum one link leading you to the Photo Gallery.

HOW TO REGISTER?

In the Gallery to the right, just above the grey field, click on "Register". Fill in the blanks of the form which then appears. Don't forget the verification code on the bottom of the registration form (that's a protection measure against automated spam, sorry for that). Submit the form by clicking on the register button.

Your registration is instantly approved, however you have to activate it by logging in. After that it looks a liittle confusing because a headline tells you: Login to your account and beneath it tells "Welcome YourName".

Well, ignore that. Again, on the right, top, you find the links: Your Account, Your Album and Logout.

Click on Your Album, to proceed on getting your photos in. Of course you also can click and explore Your Account, where you can change your settings.

HOW TO CREATE ALBUMS?

When you click the first time on "Your Album", such will be automatically created as MEMBER ALBUM under the name, you registered.

The page you see now looks pretty empty and basically tells you that your album is empty, Add a Photo!

Since you might wish to have your photos sorted for perhaps different events or whatever, I advise you at this stage: YET, DO NOT CLICK ON "ADD A PHOTO"!

INSTEAD: On the right, on top of the grey field, click on "Sidebar"! Such will open now on the left side of the page.

You will find a lot of options. Choose the first one: ADD ALBUM.

What comes up now is a page called Add Sub-Album. Please note that it tells you to give the album a name to be stored on your hard disk. Well, IT IS NOT YOUR HARD DISC, it is the server of this web site itself. So, don't worry about that!

Type in a file name in the first field. Example: MyFirstAlbum

Under Title you would then key: My first album (This title will be seen by visitors)

The other fields are optional, so do what you like. When done, click "Create" at the end of the form.

The next page names "Edit Album" It tells you in green letters: Album created successfully. Well, fine, that's what we want right now! Feel free to further explore the page, but for the start just abort here!!!

On the left, in the navigation find and click "Back to album"

On the page now you find the album "My first album" with a writing "no thumbnail".

Please click on "no thumbnail", just to see what you have seen earlier before. "This album is empty"..., but it is your sub-album!

NOW PLEASE CLICK ON ADD PHOTO !!!

You are now on the Add Items page, which shows you various options for uploading photos or videos. Most likely the interesting options for you will be either:

  • From Web Browser (the most simple one)
  • Windows XP (try it out, looks good! I'm using Apple)
  • Upload Applet (use this for larger bulks of photo

The most simple one is "From Web Browser"! When using this you will see fields like:

"File" with a Browse button next to it and "Caption".

Click on the first "File" fields "Browse" and a directory of your computer will pop up. Choose a picture or video file and click "open". The directory window disappears and you should see the files name in the File field.

You can do this with up to twenty pictures if you add "More Upload Boxes..."

Ignore everything else and click "Add Items" at the bottom. It might take a bit depending on file sizes and numbers.

At the moment a single file size should not exceed 2 MB and one upload batch should be maximum 8 MB. i will change this before October 1st, 2007.

Now you got started. Have fun in exploring all the other features. If you get stuck, leave a message in the Forum of Dragon Boat Net or send me an E-Mail with your question.
